Completely Belong To Our Age

Although Jia Youfu’s landscape painting is deeply rooted in the tradition, restoring the magnificent landscape spectacle in North Song dynasty or representing the exquisiteness of the minor landscape of masters in Southern Song dynasty, it completely belongs to our age. We can see his love for the Nature from his works. He returns to Taihang Mountain once a year.  His works, either great or small, all have a strong appeal. The two forms of large patches of magnificent abstract geometric shapes and partial composition of subtle changes interfinger with each other. He usually presents the sunset sky by small-frame paintings. The fugacious light rays and air shock our soul with poetic realm.  The strong homesick atmosphere brought by the returning herdsman and herd at sunset under his brush is quite rare in Chinese painting circle since Southern Song dynasty. All these plus his fantastic painting techniques make him rank in the most typical and most noticeable contemporary Chinese artists.
